Board member, representing Technology Service Providers of Kenya (TESPOK)

James Turuthi is a senior technology executive and board leader with over 20 years of experience in digital infrastructure, internet governance, enterprise connectivity, and technology-sector leadership across Africa. He serves as Chairman of the Board of the Technology Service Providers Association of Kenya (TESPOK), where he leads industry advocacy for Kenya’s technology service providers and supports policy engagement on digital infrastructure, internet governance, cybersecurity, and inclusive connectivity. He is also Vice Chairman of the Kenya Network Information Centre (KeNIC), the organization responsible for managing Kenya’s .ke country code top-level domain, where he contributes to the governance of Kenya’s digital identity and critical internet infrastructure.

James is the Deputy CEO of Frontier Optical Networks, where he leads strategic operations, partnerships, enterprise growth, and service excellence in carrier-grade connectivity. His career includes senior leadership roles at Frontier Optical Networks, Wananchi / Zuku, and iWayAfrica, with a strong record in market expansion, regulatory compliance, operational transformation, and customer experience.

His boardroom perspective is shaped by practical experience at the intersection of digital infrastructure, corporate governance, policy, cyber resilience, and emerging technologies. He is a strong advocate for ethical leadership, digital trust, and responsible board oversight in the age of artificial intelligence and digital transformation.

James holds an MBA in Marketing and a Bachelor of Science in Business Management from the University of Phoenix USA and San Franciso State University, and has additional training in Lean Six Sigma, operations, and management development.
