Sunrise Period

The Registry will offer an approximately Ninety (90+) days sunrise period for Trademark holders who trademarks have been registered under the Trade Marks ACT (CAP 506) Laws of Kenya to register Domain Names similar to their trademarks.

Applications for Domain Name Registrations received during the Sunrise period will be evaluated during the subsequent Cooling-off period and Domain Names will then be allocated to eligible Applicants based on the criteria contained in this Policy.

Application Process

 

STEP 1: Copy of certified trademark from a Lawyer with good standing with Law Society of Kenya (LSK).

STEP 2: Contact your registrar to make your application on your behalf 

STEP 3: Registrar to submit the application and attach required documents to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.  

STEP 4: Assessment of applications by Kenya Network Information Centre (KeNIC). 

STEP 5: Registrars will be notified of the approved applications during the cooling off period

STEP 6: Approved domains to go live after the cooling off period

Institutions(universities, colleges and schools) will be allowed to submit their applications during the sunrise period accompanied with a copy of their certificate from The Ministry of Education/ TVETA .
